75% of 425 additional CAPF companies to join fight against Maoists

FOLLOWING recent successes against Left Wing Extremists in Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Maharashtra, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has decided to move over 75% of the 425 additional Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) companies—originally deployed for Amarnath Yatra and then kept in Jammu & Kashmir—to Naxal-affected areas for a final offensive against the extremists.

This redeployment is part of the government’s broader strategy to intensify operations against Naxal operatives and their leaders. One senior security official explained, “The troops withdrawn from J&K are expected to be soon moved into the ‘Red Zone’.”

Moving forces from Jammu and Kashmir to the Red Zones of Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Maharashtra matches Home Minister Amit Shah’s goal to eliminate Naxalism by March 31, 2026.
