THE first national convention for the National Dialogue did not go smoothly with reports that there was discord among the planning committee, challenges with access for people with disabilities, and the steering committee could not be finalised.

The convention was held despite political parties and a host of civil society organisations pulling out of the National Dialogue as they had questions over costs, the rushed process to hold the event, lack of proper planning, and concerns that it would be reduced to an ANCor government-led process.
