KHARTOUM Military clashes escalate in Sudan

MILITARY clashes have intensified in recent days between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State in western Sudan.

While the RSF claimed this week that it had taken control of strategic positions near a major military base, the Sudanese army announced it had repelled a large-scale attack, affirming that the situation inside the city was "fully under the control."

The RSF this week released videos on the social media platform X claiming its fighters had taken control of military positions near the sixth Infantry Division headquarters, the main army base in El Fasher.

"Our forces continue to tighten the noose on Sudanese army positions from several fronts. We are advancing with calculated tactics in the northern, eastern, and southern parts of the city, and have also entered the Abu Shouk displacement camp," RSF advisor Mustafa Ibrahim said in the post.
