Xhaka so important for rest of the season

SUNDERLAND boss Regis Le Bris believes captain Granit Xhaka will continue to play a crucial role for the remainder of season following his recent return from injury.

Xhaka's return to the starting lineup at the weekend coincided with the Black Cats snapping their losing streak with a hard-earned 1-1 draw at Bournemouth.

And as they prepare for a quick turnaround with a trip to face Leeds at Elland Road this evening, Le Bris confirmed that Xhaka will remain a key component in his side.

Le Bris told a press conference at the Academy of Lights yesterday: "Granit is like a conductor.

"We don't have many players like that, who help the others to get better. It’s important to have one or two in the squad and Granit is one of those players.
