Usdaw elects first-ever female general secretary

THE shop workers' union has announced the election of its first-ever female general secretary.
-
Joanne Thomas, Usdaw’s current regional secretary for the North East, was elected unopposed as the only candidate to secure the necessary nominations. She will replace the current general secretary Paddy Lillis, who retires in July.
