Fleetwood hopes he can challenge Scottie Scheffler and Rory Mcllroy for the world number one spot as the DP World Tour season heads into the new year at the Dubai Invitational.Englishman Fleetwood enjoyed a strong end to 2025, winning his first PGA Tour title as well as helping Europe secure victory in the Ryder Cup.

Fleetwood, though, knows there is still plenty of hard work ahead as he looks to chase down Scheffler and Mcllroy at the top of the world rankings.

“I would love to. There is a clear gap, those two guys are definitely the best golfers in the world.

“I am just one of the players in the pack behind that has some catching up to do there,” Fleetwood said ahead of the Dubai Invitational, which starts at Dubai Creek Resort on Thursday.
