Tech firm’s ‘T-Rex leather’ handbag to be auctioned
May 27, 2026
|The Journal
A NEWCASTLE technology firm is hoping a high-profile auction in Paris could propel its work from research into commercialisation.
Josh Brown with the bag at the exhibition
Lab-Grown Leather Limited, part of Newcastle Helix-based and stock exchange-listed BSF Enterprise PLC, has worked with fashion firms in Europe to develop a handbag made from “T-Rex leather”. The bag has been engineered using reconstructed dinosaur collagen and brought to life without harming a single animal.
Now the company has appointed high-profile Paris-based auction house Giquello SAS to facilitate the sale of the handbag, hoping that publicity around the sale will help bring attention to its world-leading scientific work.
