Seek advice plea from dad after bladder removal
May 03, 2025

A RYTON dad who had his bladder removed due to cancer says that the illness "isn't talked about enough".
Anth Knott was diagnosed with bladder cancer in May 2024 a few months shy of his 40th birthday.
After making a new year's resolution to get fitter, he started running daily, but soon noticed blood in his urine.
After an online search, he passed off his symptoms as an "exercise-induced hematuria", also known as runner's bladder a relatively harmless condition which lasts for a few days.
However, when the blood was still coming after two months, Anth went to his GP and, after a series of tests, his diagnosis was confirmed.
Mr Knott told The Journal: "The world just lost its colour, everything went greyscale. I could almost struggle to identify with anyone, and I felt like I was in this state of limbo."
Instructional designer Anth was motivated to start his fitness drive by his one-year-old son, Alfie. Anth said: "By the time he's 20, I'd be pushing 60, and I wanted to be more active and enjoy having an active life with him as he became an adult."
Anth started treatment in the hope of securing that future. At first, the tumours were "scraped out" of his bladder, but when that wasn't fully successful, he opted to have his entire bladder removed to give him the best chance of beating the illness.
