Sapling is symbol of hope for those who are grieving

ONE of the Sycamore Gap "Trees of Hope” saplings will be planted in a North Tyneside country park next month.

Cath Darling, an occupational therapist from Whitley Bay, is one of 49 recipients of a “Tree of Hope” sapling from the National Trust, nine of which have gone to organisations in the North East.

The sapling will be planted in front of the visitor centre at Rising Sun Country Park between Wallsend and Benton on February 20 as part of her Garden for Grief project. Cath has written a book inspired by the tree's felling that she hopes will help children with bereavement and loss.
