'Robust plan' in place to improve failing school

A NORTHUMBERLAND school that requires special measures is "working hard" on improvements after an Ofsted inspection.
Haydon Bridge High School was found to be failing to provide an acceptable standard of education and that pupils had gaps in basic knowledge.
An inspection in January found that curriculum and teaching at the Hexham school needed attention, as well as inclusion, personal development and wellbeing, plus post 16 provision.
Three areas required urgent improvement, the report said: achievement, attendance and behaviour, plus leadership and governance.
Classrooms in the school were found to be "generally calm" but instances of low-level disruption to learning were not uncommon. Incidents of "boisterous behaviour" were also noticed.
After the Ofsted report was published, Haydon Bridge High School said it was "determined to make improvements".
