Path stands tall in the realm of the dwarves

A PATH through Northumberland which takes walkers through an Iron Age hillfort and past the dwellings of folkloric dwarves is in the running to be named Britain's favourite.

The Ramblers have been on the search for Britain's Favourite Path of 2025, with hundreds of people from across the country sharing snapshots of those that mean the most to them.

Rothbury’s Simonside Ridge was the winning entry from the North East England category. An “easy” circular walk recommended by Northumberland National Park encapsulates the best of the area, giving views from the Cheviot Hills to the North Sea and the chance to see red squirrels in the forest below.
