Mindless motorcyclist hits 100mph on A189

A MINDLESS motorcyclist drove on footpaths and a football field before clocking speeds of more than 100mph on a busy Northumberland dual carriageway.

Peter Smith, who has an appalling record for motoring offences, was already banned from the roads when he took police on a dangerous pursuit through parts of Blyth.

A court heard that the 37-year-old failed to stop for the officers, travelled along footpaths and over a football pitch before turning onto the A189.

Here, the menace overtook and undertook vehicles at speeds in excess of 100mph as he desperately tried to evade capture, prosecutors said.
