Knott his day last time - but Silver's now set to sparkle

SILVER Knott can atone for an odds- on defeat earlier in the month with victory in Goodwood’s BetGoodwin Festival Stakes.

The five-year-old has been a fine performer for Godolphin in recent seasons, with his juvenile campaign including two Group Three wins while he was placed in Grade One company at three as spent nearly the entire season in America.

Charlie Appleby stuck with the US theme last year too, with Silver Knott not lining up domestically, instead triumphing three times in five Stateside starts.

He was a short price to win at Meydan in March when favoured by race conditions and duly did the business, but he hit the buffers in his first British run in two years when beaten just over a length by Bellum Justum in the Jockey Club Stakes at Newmarket.
