Virgil van Dijk celebrates the midweek victory

LIVERPOOL captain Virgil van Dijk has been encouraged by recent performances and is hopeful the team can continue their progress and have a successful end to the season.

The midweek 3-0 victory in Marseille built on improvements in their attacking output and strengthened chances of finishing in the top eight of the Champions League and thereby avoiding the playoff round.

While the Dutchman was reticent to declare they had definitively turned a corner in their 13-match unbeaten run which has rarely been convincing, he felt there was a positivity in the displays which offered optimism for the final four months of the campaign.
