Heed boss calls for big response after defeats

ALUN Armstrong has challenged his Gateshead players to bounce back from consecutive defeats when they visit National League rivals Wealdstone this afternoon.

After rounding off August with seven points from home games with Tamworth and Aldershot Town and along away day at Yeovil, September has been something of a nightmare for the Heed after they emerged without a point from games against Altrincham and Woking.

A dismal home display against Alty resulted in a deserved 2-0 defeat and that was followed by something of a horror show at Woking as Armstrong’s men shipped five goals without reply at the Laithwaite Community Stadium.

After a rare free midweek, Gateshead will return to action as they head to Wealdstone today - and Armstrong (pictured) has revealed he is looking for a change in mentality from his players.
