'Funerals can be more personal and memorable'

A NEW crematorium is set to open in the North East.

Great North Crematorium and Memorial Gardens is currently being built on a 15-acre site off Arcot Lane, just west of Cramlington in Northumberland.The site was chosen so that it is accessible to families within the wider Newcastle, Northumberland and North Tyneside area. It is being developed by Westerleigh Group and is expected to open this winter.

The crematorium will have audiovisual technology, provided by Obitus, which will offer families additional opportunities to personalise their loved one's funeral.

The closest family will be able to select a theme to be displayed on to the 'canvas' - the entire front wall at the chapel - and it can be accompanied by coordinated soundscapes and lighting.
