Force PCC responds to police chief's revamp plan

NORTHUMBRIA'S Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) has reacted to the Met Commissioner's vision for new “mega-forces” across the country.

Britain's top police officer, Sir Mark Rowley, in an article for the Sunday Times criticised the current structure of policing, claiming it has not worked “for at least two decades”.

He said the 43 police forces in England and Wales should be replaced with 12 to 15 “mega-forces”.
