Five-day Metro closure for overhead lines work

NEXT month will see a five-day Metro line closure in South Tyneside. Between Monday, August 4, and Friday, August 8, trains will not run between Hebburn and South Shields.
This is to allow for “vital” new overhead power lines to be installed in the area. 1.6km of new wire will be installed, with chiefs from Nexus, which operates the Metro, saying this is essential to ensuring the “long-term reliability” of the transport network.
