ROB Elliot has admitted Gateshead could lose some players over the coming weeks - but stressed their departures can help the National League strugglers get to where they want to be.

The former Newcastle United goalkeeper has wasted little time in pruning his squad in his second spell in charge after three loan signings returned to their parent clubs.

Defender Ibrahim Bakare, winger Kyle Hurst and forward Kian Pennant have all left the Heed this week after the temporary moves came to a close and a number of their now former teammates are attracting attention from clubs higher up the football food chain.
