'Embarrassing' defeat for Heed

ALUN Armstrong apologised to Gateshead supporters after his side rounded off a dismal few days by crashing to a heavy defeat at National League rivals Woking.

The former Darlington and Blyth Spartans manager read the riot act to his players in the aftermath of their 2-0 home defeat against Altrincham in midweek - but any warnings given failed to be heeded as the Heed shipped five goals against the Cards.
There were just 12 minutes on the clock when Aiden O’Brien put the hosts in front and their lead was doubled by the midway point of the half as Tariq Hinds found the net.
