Drug-driver led police on 'crazy' street pursuit

A DRUG-FUELLED driver took police on a dangerous high-speed chase through residential streets before trying to hide in a bush.

Ryan Haglington travelled at double the speed limit, flouted numerous red lights and drove on the wrong side of the road as he tried to evade officers during a pursuit around Ashington.

The 24-year-old, who also had no insurance or licence, even continued to drive after his tyres were deflated by a police stinger device, a court heard.

A last-ditch attempt to avoid arrest saw Haglington then ditch his car, flee on foot and try to hide in a bush, where he was spotted by officers.

Haglington, of Milburn Road in Ashington, has now been told that the only reason he hasn’t been locked up is because he was young and had no past convictions.
