REGIS Le Bris has called for greater ruthlessness in front of goal after Sunderland's 1-0 defeat to Sporting CP in Portugal.

- By CLIVE YOULTON

While the head coach was pleased with his squad’s energy and intent during their time in Portugal, he was left to rue the fact his men failed to find the net despite having chances.

The Black Cats concluded their Algarve training camp with a narrow defeat, edged out by a first-half strike from Francisco Trincão.

It marked the third consecutive fixture in which Le Bris rotated his squad, handing 45 minutes to a broad mix of outfield players.

New arrivals Noah Sadiki, Habib Diarra, Simon Adingra, and Chemsdine Talbi continued to find their feet, forging promising early connections within the squad.

With a trip to Hearts next on the agenda this Saturday, Le Bris remains encouraged by the team’s progress, but called for more of a cutting edge. Speaking post-match, Le Bris said: “It was two different halves again because we split the group.
