Green secret to Good Health
August 25, 2025
|The Island
In the hustle of modern life, where fast food often trumps wholesome meals, the humble green leaf rarely receives the attention it deserves.
-
Yet, nutritionists, doctors, and even traditional medical systems have long emphasized the importance of including leafy greens in our daily diet. From spinach and kale to gotu kola and drumstick leaves, these plants are nutritional powerhouses that can make a remarkable difference to human health.
Green leaves are nature’s multivitamins. Packed with essential nutrients, they provide vitamins A, C, K, and several B vitamins, along with minerals like iron, calcium, magnesium, and potassium. In addition, they are low in calories and high in dietary fibre, making them ideal for maintaining a healthy weight while nourishing the body. The deep green colour of these vegetables comes from chlorophyll, a compound known for its detoxifying properties. Research suggests that chlorophyll may help purify the blood, improve oxygen supply, and support liver function.
