WINTER SEASON KICKS-OFF WITH A WIN FOR B DIVISION CHAMPIONS

- By DAVID AND SUE GALE

Woock sisters open with a notable victory

Jane Williams, Vicky Roberts, Debbie Bauckham and Karen Johnstone

THE summer is over and the Winter Tennis League has started again. This year we are pleased to announce new sponsors (GA Solicitors) and also welcome 30 new pairings to the league.

In Ladies A, Nicky Slight and sub Katherine Rowe took on Helen Wright and Suzanne Sykes. With three tiebreaks and barely a point between them, it was tennis at its most exciting. Nicky and Katherine won in the closest score possible 6-5, 6-5, 5-6.

Last year's B division winners, Megan and Annie Woock, took on last year's A division winners, Nicky Trevaskis and Fiona Crutchley and it was the B division champs who came out on top 6-4, 6-5, 6-2. It was a great game with lots of close points and it looks like the young Woock's could be the team to beat this winter.

There were some amazing rallies and shots played by all in the match between Sue Gale/Toni Lloyd and Sandra O’Sullivan/Luisa Warring with some fantastic backhands from Toni. Sue and Toni came out on top 6-4, 6-2, 6-5.
