JO CLARKE ON A 'WONDERFUL ADDITION' TO THE BOX'S DECORATIVE ART COLLECTION

THE art collections at The Box include more than 15,000 works of art and craft dating from the 1400s to present day and span ceramics, glass, furniture, costume, textiles, silver and contemporary craft.

Within these, the decorative art collection includes the largest grouping of Plymouth and Bristol porcelain in the UK. It also includes a wide selection of ceramics from other British and European factories and makers, including Dorothy Doughty, Bernard Moore and the Martin Brothers, plus contemporary craft items by makers such as Naoki Takeyama, David Clarke and Paul Scott.

This beautiful work is a recent addition to the collection. It's called 'Primus II' and is the work of Bisila Noha. It was purchased from Thrown by the Contemporary Art Society and then presented to The Box.
