Teen left his victim with lasting brain damage

YOUTH LAUNCHED ATTACK ON MAN - USING CLAW HAMMER

INVESTIGATORS have said the victim of an “inexcusable” attack had been left with lasting brain damage affecting his speech and language.

The comments come following the sentencing hearing at Plymouth Crown Court of a 17-year-old who pleaded guilty to attacking his victim with a claw hammer on the morning of January 6 this year at a bus stop in Mutley Plain. The teen cannot be named for legal reasons.

The court heard how the youth had got off a bus on Mutley Plain at around 8.45am and saw a man he knew. The teen then launched an attack on the man using a claw hammer which he had hidden in a trouser pocket.
