Szucs enters late on for Hungary debut
October 16, 2024
|The Herald
PLYMOUTH Argyle centre-back Kornel Szucs made his senior international debut for Hungary towards the end of a 2-0 UEFA Nations League win away to Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Szucs had been an unused substitute when Hungary drew 1-1 at home to the Netherlands in Budapest last Friday but he came off the bench in the 86th minute of the Group A3 game against Bosnia-Herzegovina in Zenica as he replaced Zsolt Nagy for the closing stages.
Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai scored both goals for Hungary as they clinched their first 2024/25 Nations League victory, with one of them coming from a penalty which was awarded by Premier League referee Anthony Taylor.
Szucs will hope he has done enough to impress head coach Marco Rossi to be included in Hungary’s squad for their final two Group A3 matches, away to the Netherlands and at home to Germany next month.
Argyle defender Brendan Galloway was substituted in the first half of Zimbabwe’s latest 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier due to an injury, although there are no more details than that at the moment.
