Stunning images of long-lost shipwreck

UNDERWATER MYSTERY IS SOLVED AFTER 140 YEARS

A DIVER from Plymouth has helped to unravel a shipwreck mystery by uncovering a vessel that sank nearly 140 years ago. Former Army Officer and military helicopter pilot Dominic Robinson captured stunning footage of the long-lost wreck.

The 50-year-old embarked on the expedition with Liz, a crew member on the boat, and James, the skipper. For the underwater exploration, Dominic was accompanied by fellow divers Rick and Andy.

The team meticulously inspected the wreck site and unearthed old crockery, which proved crucial in identifying the sunken ship. Upon discovering a plate adorned with the Cunard Steamship Company logo, Dominic could confirm that the wreck he had found was indeed the SS Nantes.

According to NeedToKnow, the SS Nantes met its tragic end after colliding with the German sailing vessel Theodor Ruger in November 1988.
