Solar farms will not discourage tourism

Objections divide into appearance, combined with a bit of unpleasant foreigner-baiting - “Chinese mirrors” which it is feared will destroy tourism, and reduce agricultural production.

There is no sign that tourists are put off by solar farms, which in the UK are not going to exceed 0.6% of land by 2050 - meeting the physically non-negotiable climate requirement of Net Zero carbon emissions if we want to be part of preventing the acceleration of catastrophic climate breakdown.

Consider Spain, for example, which has far more solar than we do. Meanwhile, there is no evidence that people are losing interest in holidaying in our region.
