Ronnie, 80, still knows how to strut her stuff

A PLYMOUTH woman who had a five-decade career in retail fashion is showing she has not lost her taste for the catwalk by strutting her stuff at the age of 80.

Veronica 'Ronnie' Benattar grew up in the city but went on to be a dress buyer for House of Fraser then Peter Richards, and later on took up a role as central dress buyer for Debenhams, before later running her own fashion importing business.

Despite having retired in Buckinghamshire, she is still involved in fashion shows, and has recently modelled garments in a charity event organised by local French fashion brand agent Michelle Kovacs.

The shows are organised four to six times a year to audiences of between 80 and 100 people each time, with money from ticket sales and raffles going to charities, including Liberty's Legacy to support those affected by Ewing Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer.
