Renovation work set to improve Tinside Lido

SCAFFOLDING has gone up around Plymouth’s Tinside Lido, as a regeneration project begins.

The work is part of the five-year Horizons Project programme funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. It will be carried out while the pool remains open.

Plymouth Sound National Marine Park said contractor Nevada will scaffold the whole building in order to undertake necessary surveys to inform the repair works, which will start at the beginning of June.

The refurbishment works are designed to regenerate and breathe new life into the buildings, with completion in spring 2025.

Tinside Lido is a seawater bathing pool built in 1935. Faithfully restored and reopened in 2003, it now represents one of the best examples of surviving Art Deco Lido pools in the country and was Grade II listed as a building of special architectural and historic interest in 1998 by Historic England.
