Parkway asked for a favour by Gosport
November 29, 2024
|The Herald
PLYMOUTH Parkway are doing all they can to accommodate a request by tomorrow's opponents Gosport Borough to get the game on with the home club having ongoing issues with their floodlights.
Boro were forced to call off their midweek home clash with Bracknell Town with the club stating there was 'an unfortunate and unforeseen issue with the stadium floodlight system... that couldn't be rectified in time.' It seems quite ironic given that Portsmouth, just a ferry ride away from Gosport, also had floodlight issues on Tuesday forcing their Championship match with Millwall to be postponed. But Parkway boss Chris McPhee is hoping to get the game on with the hosts requesting kick-off is brought forward to 2pm.
"We are just trying to work out if that is something we can do or not and leave at 7.30am instead of 8.30am," McPhee said. "My secretary messaged me and asked me if I'd be happy with that, so I am looking at the implications of that and whether the players would be happy with that. Otherwise, it ends up being postponed and we end up having to go back on a Tuesday night and there are loads of things that come into that.
