Long service award for naval commander

A DEVONPORT-based Royal Navy Commander has been given a special award in recognition of his long service.

Commander Bob Evans was presented with the Gold Valedictory Certificate at HMNB Devonport by Commodore Paul Pitcher, Commander Surface Flotilla, in recognition of his 38 Years of service with the navy.

During his long and dedicated service, Commander Evans has served on several warships as well as holding many jobs and positions ashore, predominantly in Plymouth throughout his career.

Bob Evans joined the Royal Navy at HMS Raleigh in 1985, having grown up in Pelsall, near Walsall in the West Midlands. After getting married in 1991, he moved to Plymouth where he has since lived, and both his son and daughter were born.
