FAMILY OF PLYMOUTH ARGYLE LEGEND JACK LESLIE WERE PRESENTED WITH HIS POSTHUMOUS ENGLAND CAP
THE posthumous honorary England cap for Plymouth Argyle legend Jack Leslie was presented to family members at Wembley yesterday.
Debbie Hewitt, chair of The Football Association, and former England international Viv Anderson awarded the cap and a certificate to Leslie's granddaughters Lesley, Lyn and Gill on the pitch before England's Euro 2024 qualifier against Ukraine.
It was first announced by the FA that Leslie would be recognised this way at the unveiling of a statue of him outside Home Park last October.
The FA said in a statement yesterday: "Jack was a true trailblazer in our game, scoring 137 times for Plymouth Argyle, before retiring in 1935.
