EIGHT ON THE SIDELINES AHEAD OF TODAY'S TRIP TO LINCOLN CITY

- By CHRIS ERRINGTON

PLYMOUTH Argyle goalkeeper Conor Hazard and left-back Jack MacKenzie have again been ruled out of today’s League One trip to Lincoln City, but they are on track to return to action at the end of this month, after missing the start of the season due to injuries.

Hazard suffered knee ligament damage when playing for Northern Ireland in an international away to Denmark in early June, while MacKenzie, a summer signing from Scottish Cup winners Aberdeen, has been dealing with a different type of knee issue.

The pair are among eight Argyle players who are currently on a very lengthy injury list, with Jamie Paterson the latest addition to it after he picked up a calf problem near the end of the 3-2 Carabao Cup first round win against Queens Park Rangers at Home Park on Tuesday night. He has been ruled out of the trip to Lincoln this afternoon.

Cleverley said about Hazard and MacKenzie: “Hopefully they will both be on similar timescales to return and that will be the end of the month. Conor is more like the initial diagnosis we got so we are not worried about how long it has taken.

“He initially got 12-16 weeks, and that’s what it’s going to look like. We thought we could get that done in eight, it has not been the case, so Conor will be the end of the month, as will Jack.

‘Jack's is a little bit more difficult to put a timescale on because it’s a tendinopathy issue. Sometimes you are more treating symptoms rather than a scan image. End of the month hopefully with the pair of them and it will be like getting two signings”.
