From solitary to shared song craft

Music scene
A COUPLE of Plymouth musos who had been quite happily creating music remotely on their laptops recently rediscovered their love of being part of a band and have formed dreamy retro indie pop quartet Playwriter.
“Since lockdown I got comfortable making music on my own and falling into the same routines,” explains lead singer Leo. “Then one day I picked my Fender Mustang off the wall and realized how much I missed getting together with other players - Tom felt the same”.
Moving on from their ambient music backgrounds they recruited Jon and Norman, embracing the warmth and immediacy of a live band built around human connection, humour and grownup honesty...
In fact the move from solitary sound-design to shared song craft shaped their debut Everyday EP at every level. Written firmly from a 30-something vantage point, its songs sparkle with wit and a zen attitude to life. They examine adult friendship and that nagging feeling that you are older and supposedly wiser, but still don’t know what it all means - all expressed through the irresistible prism of their wistful melodic indie pop.
