HITS VEHICLES AND NEXT DAY SMASHES UP A PUB
A MAN will be sentenced later this year after he admitted driving under the influence of drugs, hitting two vehicles and then smashing up a Tavistock pub, terrifying drinkers and staff the next day.
Justin Napier of Spring Hill, Tavistock, appeared at Plymouth Crown Court where he was set to be sentenced for a slew of offences which took place during two incidents in Tavistock on November 2, 2024 and November 3, 2024.
Prosecutor Evie Dean told Plymouth Crown Court that 55-year-old Napier was driving his Ford Fiesta through West Street in Tavistock on a busy Saturday.
One witness, driving in a Mercedes in the opposite direction, saw the Ford driving “at significant speed” and tried to pull over beside a row of parked cars to let Napier past - but the gap was not big enough.
Another witness had just got into a parked car and Napier swerved into it, ripping off the Fiesta mudguards and causing damage to the parked car. The Fiesta continued, hitting the Mercedes before mounting the pavement where a couple and their 11-year-old daughter were walking.
