Country pub due to be reopened

THE famous Treby Arms pub, near Plymouth, is to reopen after two city businessmen beat stiff competition to take on the building.

The pub, at Sparkwell, closed last week, a victim of rising costs - but a new team will reopen it next month and already have big plans.

One of the businessmen now involved told PlymouthLive a refurbishment had already begun and it is expected to reopen on November 27 “in time for the Christmas period”.

He said the Treby Arms would be an “affordable gastro pub” and a Christmas menu will be released soon. He added he and his business partner already have one enterprise in Plymouth and the aim is to open a “small chain” of city pubs serving quality food, made from locally sourced produce.

On social media, he said: “Yes, the fires will be burning and we will have a very good selection of beers, ales and an excellent food offering, while keeping it affordable and local.
