City rapist jailed for 20 years

A RAPIST who violently abused his victim in a campaign of terror has been jailed for 20 years.

Peter Gilbert, 54, of Manor Street, Plymouth, carried out his sexual attacks in Plymouth, Newquay and Truro, threatening his victim with weapons.

Gilbert stubbed out a cigarette on her arms, causing scarring and recorded footage of himself raping his victim, which he showed to other people.

Sentencing Gilbert at Truro Crown Court, Judge Simon Carr said Gilbert used the filmed footage of the attacks as a weapon against his victim.

During an attack at the victim's home, Gilbert said he was twice the size of the victim, and she had no choice but to do what he wanted. The victim described freezing during his attacks.
