Charity shop closure would be a huge loss

I LIKE many others in the Stoke area and further afield are saddened and shocked to hear that our wonderful Cancer Research UK Charity shop is at risk of closing next month.

This great charity shop sells high quality donated goods, bric a brac, lovely clothing, books and more at very reasonable prices, raising vital funds for Cancer Research.

Our charity shop has been in Stoke Village for 35 years, and is one of the longest serving shops in the village. It is a real community asset to the area. The staff and volunteers know the customers as friends and are on hand to support those who visit the shop, especially those who have had or are going through a cancer diagnosis/treatment.

I hope this decision about closure can be looked at again and supported by all who know the shop and those who have yet to visit it.

Please support the shop and staff as we do not want to lose such a wonderful asset in our local community that has been in the village for so many years.

Council 'smokescreen' around bankruptcy

IT'S no good Tudor Evans creating a smoke screen around bankruptcy...

what citizens need is a detailed breakdown as to how the city has ended up with a billion pounds' worth of debt by 2028.

You don't get to a large figure (a billion ponds) like that going over budget on a few projects in the city centre.

Once we've got a true figure and know how we achieved it, we then need a detailed report on just how the capital sums are going to be repayed and over what period.
