NEW CONTRACTOR ON SITE TO FINALLY GET SCHEME FINISHED

WORK on the troubled £4m upgrade of Plymouth's Central Park has restarted after a new contractor was appointed. Liskeard-based WBM Groundworks is now taking on the job after it grinded to a halt when the previous contractor left the project.

The ambitious scheme was left facing further delays with fed-up neighbouring residents saying they were “disgusted” and “taken for fools.” But this week work restarted with a 12-week programme to get playing pitches in to shape. A Plymouth City Council spokesperson said: “On Monday, new contractor WBM Groundworks started to bring in all necessary equipment onto site ahead of getting spades back into the ground next week.
