Ambrosia factory to have £19m investment

CASH INJECTION WILL BOOST PRODUCTION AT LIFTON BASE

THE West Devon factory where Ambrosia Custard has been made for more than 100 years is set to be boosted by a £19million investment.

Premier Foods, the parent company of the famous food brand, said the cash injection at its Lifton site would increase production and support hundreds of jobs.

The three-year investment, which is part of Premier Foods' growth strategy, will be delivered in two phases and comes amid rising demand for the company's products, including porridge.

The first £9m of funding has been used to modernise Ambrosia rice pudding and custard production with new custard-filling and high-speed packing lines, which are using cutting edge technology, the firm said.
