Suspect in health boss killing makes angry outburst before hearing

Luigi Mangione emerged from a patrol car, spun towards reporters and shouted out while deputies pushed him inside the court building in Pennsylvania.

Mangione, 26, was arrested on Monday at a McDonald's restaurant in Altoona, Pennsylvania, in connection with Brian Thompson's killing outside a Manhattan hotel hosting a meeting of investors in the CEO's company.

Mangione was in court to contest his extradition to face murder charges in New York. At the brief hearing, defense lawyer Thomas Dickey informed the court that Mangione would not waive extradition to New York but instead wants a hearing on the issue. He has 14 days to challenge detention, and was denied bail.

After a hunt lasting several days, the suspect was arrested after he was recognized from photographs released by officials.

Police said they found Mangione with a firearm suppressor, a mask like the gunman's, a fake New Jersey ID matching the one the police say the gunman used to check into a New York City hostel before the shooting, and a handwritten document.
