The SNP's estimated 119,000 members received a personal email from Nicola Sturgeon on Tuesday evening after her statement to the Scottish parliament, telling them "the referendum campaign starts here". It directed them to contact their local branches to see if they can help with campaigning this weekend.
Sturgeon revealed on Tuesday her government has formally requested a ruling from the UK supreme court on whether Holyrood is legally able to call a referendum without Westminster's authorisation.
