Rich-poor friendships 'boost social mobility'

Friendships that bridge economic divides are good for social mobility, a major study suggests.
It found that low-income children who grew up in areas where there was more mixing among income groups were likely to earn an extra £5,100 a year in adulthood.
The research, which combined official figures and anonymised Facebook data on 20 million UK adults, pointed to the benefits of what the authors called more "economically connected communities".
