Mercedes vow to learn from 'mess' with Russell's car

Mercedes technical director James Allison maintains the team will learn from the “mess” which hampered George Russell in qualifying in Shanghai to make improvements at next Sunday’s Japanese Grand Prix.
After winning the sprint race, Russell was struck down by a gearbox problem before Sunday’s main event, having to make a stop on track during the early part of Q3.
Although the championship leader Russell was able to get back out just in time to finish behind pole sitter teammate Kimi Antonelli - who went on to take a maiden Grand Prix victory - and then claim second place, the unexpected mechanical gremlins raised plenty of questions as the focus turns towards Suzuka.
