Judge rejects Trump lawsuit against New York Times, but it can be refiled

A federal judge has thrown out Donald Trump’s $15bn (£11bn) defamation lawsuit against the New York Times, book publisher Penguin and two Times reporters, saying the suit violated civil procedure in federal cases for failing to get to the point.
However Steven Merryday, a US district court judge in Florida, will allow the president to refile an amended action within 28 days.
The judge's order does not address the truth of the allegations nor the validity of the claims, but said the suit was filled with "vituperation and invective" and as a result, was "decidedly improper and impermissible".
Merryday noted the “many, often repetitive, and laudatory (towards President Trump) but superfluous allegations”.
