Hypersonic weapons 'part of missile tests in North Korea'

North Korea said yesterday that its missile tests at the weekend had involved hypersonic weapons as the state underscored the need to bolster its nuclear war deterrent.
South Korea said on Sunday it had detected multiple ballistic missile launches and accused the North of provocations. The tests came hours before South Korea’s president, Lee Jae Myung, departed for China for a summit with President Xi Jinping, with talks expected to cover Pyongyang’s nuclear programme.
