BrewDog to Call Time on 10 Bars Amid Hospitality Downturn

BrewDog is to close 10 bars, including its flagship location in Aberdeen, amid a "challenging" environment for pubs and restaurants.

James Taylor, the chief executive of the brewer, told staff it was no longer viable to keep the bars open. The affected venues are in Aberdeen, Brighton, Dundee, Leeds North Street, Oxford, Sheffield and York, and in Camden, Shepherd's Bush and Shoreditch in London.

Taylor, who took over as chief executive less than five months ago, said that "despite our best efforts", it was not able to make the bars viable "due to their size, location and other limiting factors". He wrote: "Following much consideration, we have sadly concluded that there is no realistic prospect of making these venues commercially viable." The bars are due to close on Saturday.
