Work to resume on town's family leisure site after lengthy hold-up

WORK on a new family leisure attraction in Redcar will get under way again today after a six-month delay.

The project to create a culture and entertainment venue and library on Redcar’s High Street and seafront came to a halt in November after the demolition of the former M&S and Goodwins buildings.

Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council says contractors will be on site again today.

Construction could not resume until the completion of more design work and surveys.

The council, which is behind the scheme financed by the government's Town Deal fund, said they were needed for party wall and legal agreements with the owners of the adjoining properties.
